Rolling Gantries for Building Maintenance

Modern buildings rely heavily on glass — roofs, atriums, and curtain walling — and that glass needs to be maintained safely for the lifetime of the building. 3JB Ltd designs and manufactures bespoke rolling gantry systems that provide permanent, CDM-compliant access for cleaning and repair, without compromising the architecture.

Rolling Ladder Gantry

Where a roof falls on a slope — typical of glazed atrium structures and pitched glass canopies — the rolling ladder gantry is the right solution. The unit follows the rake of the roof, giving maintenance operatives secure footing across the full face of the glazed surface.

The gantry runs on rails fixed to the building’s structural frame and is moved by hand along the track. When not in use, it parks in a position agreed with the architect to minimise visual impact. Materials and finishes are chosen to sit quietly within the building’s design.

Rolling Working Platform

For flat or shallow-pitched glazed roofs, a rolling working platform provides a full-width, stable workspace for cleaning, inspection, and repair. The platform spans the maintenance zone and traverses the full length of the roof on structural rails — no temporary scaffold required.

Smaller units are hand-traversed; larger installations use a mechanical drive for smooth, controlled movement. Deck width, handrail configuration, and loading specification are all bespoke to the project, with design and finish agreed in collaboration with the architect.
